Looking Back on Soluto

Today, I’m going to try to give Soluto a try again. I picked it up when it had an appearance on Lifehacker, but I later dropped it because it began to be a hassle after some time to work with. It certainly seems like a nifty little tool that’ll allow the common end-user to make educated decisions, or in some cases, guesses, about their computer to speed it up by reducing the number of things it has to do.

Currently, here’s what I think it does.

Frustrations – What applications crash?
Apps – What applications are installed?
Background Apps – What applications are running in the background? (Services @ Start-up)
Internet – What browser and ISP do you have?
Protection – What applications and settings do you have set up?
Hardware – What, roughly, makes up your computer?

The only reason why I’m coming back to it is that it’s going to feed me information about computers that people often ask me to help them with. I’ve got a friend that sounds like he might have more computer problems than he should, and I figured that this would be a great opportunity to give this feature a little test run while I try to help his computer. deadlines: they help

One of the reasons why I get things done is because of deadlines. If it wasn’t for the fact that I have to get to something done by a certain point in time, I’d probably do things that are more time sensitive first rather than things that aren’t. If I have something I need to do by tomorrow rather than something that I could do at any time, I’d probably carry out the task for tomorrow rather than the one I could any at any time.

I’m writing stuff again?

What could I possibly have to write about? Well, I usually have these little interesting snippets of conversations that I have with a certain cool guy in the middle of the night, and we end up talking about some pretty deep stuff sometimes, so I think it’d be great to keep a public log of non-sensitive information so that not only I, but people who peruse the contents of my blog can read it for themselves. Hopefully they’ll pick up a thing or two from reading my posts.

Nevertheless, I have but only that really cool guy to thank for giving that little bit of inspiration to get back into the habit of maintaining my personal website all over again. I should also go get the domain, “terrehbyte.com” because that sounds pretty cool to me.
